Serpentine Pavilion
The 2006 Serpentine Pavilion bt Rem Koolhaas consisted of a polycarbonate clad steel ‘rotunda’ structure with a sculpted helium and air filled floating roof that raised and lowered on winches, the first (and probably last) of its kind.
Tristan Simmonds developed the concept with Cecil Balmond and carried out tailored form-finding, engineering design and detailing for the innovative floating ‘aeronautical’ roof.
